—————————————————————————–
Savage4 LT:
86C394 – 110MHz core/110MHz memory – AGP2X – 64-bit memory bus – (reportedly) 8Mb maximum.
Savage4 GT:
86C395 – 110MHz core/125MHz memory – AGP2X – 64/128-bit memory bus – 16/32Mb RAM.
Savage4 Pro:
86C396/86C397 – 110MHz core/125MHz memory – AGP4X – 128-bit memory bus – 32Mb RAM.
Savage4 Pro+:
86C396P/86C397P – 125MHz core/143MHz memory – AGP4X – 128-bit memory bus – 32Mb RAM.
Savage4 ProXtreme:
86C397X – 166Mhz core/166MHz memory – AGP4X – 128-bit memory bus – 32Mb SGRAM.
ALL:
250MHz RAMDAC; 1 texture pipeline, 1 pixel pipeline, DirectX 6 compliant
The above, I believe, represents the “official” specifications, but there are all manner of variations about. Some reportedly with synchronous core/memory speeds of 125MHz or 143MHz, numerous 86C95 variants, (“A” through “F”), substitutions of SDRAM for SGRAM and vice-versa, memory bus-widths, etc. I have never personally seen, or otherwise read or heard about, an Xtreme actually clocked at 166/166MHz. The few I’ve come across, including my own, are all between 156 ~ 160MHz, with a synchronous core/memory clock.
I personally feel that you’re playing with fire by substituting one BIOS for another. Back when these cards were “all shiny and new,” I can recall a few people wrecking their Savage4 with this practice. Even the Xtreme is hopelessly obsolete, and has been for several years. Unless your skilled and knowledgeable enough to disassemble the ROM BIOS code and reprogram it, I’d advise leaving well enough alone.
